The 'Wee Sky Blues' began their preparations for the new season with a tough friendly in Belfast against a strong Springfield side. Springfield ran out 5 - 1 winners in the end, a scoreline that did not reflect the balance of play.
The U13s put in a great first half performance trailing by 1 goal at the break, following a lucky bounce in front of the Sky Blues keeper.
The huge pitch eventually took it out of the young Sky Blues team and Springfield scored a couple of goals in quick succession early in the second half.
The heriocs of the away team's keeper kept the Sky Blues at bay and after a series of missed one on one chances Shea Murphy eventually managed to pull one back, a screamer into the top left hand corner.
The 'Wee Sky Blues' can take great heart from this performance and with the same effort results will defintely go their way.
